Our Practice

Bringing prenatal care back the into home

Welcome to Higher Health Pregnancy Care, a mobile boutique prenatal service, where your health professional comes to you. Here, our nurse practitioner Lisa knows that managing a busy life and prenatal appointments can be hectic and we want to make your experience as seamless as possible.  Our mission is to help our families navigate through their health care experience and incorporating those important to them.

We aim to educate our patients in a safe environment while offering them competent comprehensive care.  Lisa will go over every detail with you at each stage of your pregnancy, we understand that many people will have questions and uncertainties in their pregnancy.  Appointments times vary, depending on each pregnancy and questions  you may have!  Lisa guarantees optimal pregnancy outcome by following the most recent evidenced-based research in obstetrics and complimenting care with traditional medicine practices.

Lisa Barter (Wipf) BSCN, MN, RN, NP

A true Fort McMurray original, Lisa has deep routes in the community where she was born and resides.  She is proud of her community and the opportunities it provides for everyone it welcomes.  She hopes to provide for the community, improving health care accessibility and patient satisfaction. Lisa has worked at the local hospital for seven years, having the privilege to work with the amazing nurses and physicians of the obstetric and emergency departments.

Working in obstetrics and emergency provides great experience and education, but also demonstrates the importance primary health care has in health prevention and promotion.  This awareness and inspiration from nursing leaders found Lisa completing her Master of Nursing: Nurse Practitioner from the University of Regina, where she graduated at the top of her class with the Dean of Nursing and Leadership Award.   Lisa stays up to date on evidence-based practice through memberships to the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and the Nurse Practitioner Association of Alberta, as well as various educational seminars through the year. When not striving to ensure the health of her patients (and babies), she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, friends and her Golden Labrador Maggie!
